| Abstract |
|
A study was conducted to determine the effects of estrogen on vaginal flora. Ten postmenopausal women (57-73 years of age) participated in the study, Vaginal fIora were evaluated before treatment and after receiving estrogen(2 mg/day) for 2months. Prior to treatment, 4 lactobacilli were found in vaginal cultures, whereas after 2 months of treatment, 12 lactobacilli were found in vaginal flora. No side effects were reported. Estrogen has the potential to be highly useful for restoring the vaginal normal flora. |
