Abstract |
objectives This study was performed to evaluate the effects of mental health promotion program at a middle school.
Methods The subjects for this study were 52 students of a middle school in Jeju. The subjects participated in 9 consecutive sessions of mental health promotion program. The authors investigated the effects of the program by evaluating the students with Minnesola Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), Conner-Wells, Adolescent Self-Report Scale (CASS), Children's Depression Inventory (COI) before the initial session and after the final session. The data was analyzed by t-test in SPSS PC+ 10.0. The range of significance was p<0.05.
Results After finishing the program. the experiment group showed statistically significant decrease of scores of Hypochondriasis, Paranoia and Schizophrenia subscales of MMPI. Bul control group showed statistically significant increase of scores in Depression and Psychasthenia subscales. There was no change of CASS scores in both groups. And also the experiment group showed statistically significant decrease of CDI scores.
Conclusion The mental health promotion program reduced the students ’ risk of mental health problems. These results support the effects of a school mental health promotion program. |
